TwitchCon is NEXT WEEK and I am pretty sure that most of us have been counting down the days until the event. The excitement is building but my stress levels are also through the roof. I wanted to put this blog post together because I am trying to avoid a repeat of last year when I stayed up all night packing to catch my morning flight. For those who are attending, I suggest you start preparing sooner rather than later. I know it's tough starting early because you still need to use all the stuff you plan to pack during the days leading up to the convention. I recommend making a list of important things that you need because I always end up forgetting something last minute. I'm getting ready for this year's TwitchCon with my awesome significant other: Luis! You will see "his and hers" in some of the photos! This is our second TwitchCon together and he was the one who introduced me to Twitch and streaming. I was brand new to the platform but attending TwitchCon definitely inspired me to set big goals that seemed almost impossible. When I left last year, I told myself that I wanted to come back the next year as a partner. I can't believe I actually accomplished that and so much more. I fell in love with Twitch and the community because of all the amazing individuals who show passion and appreciation for their favorite video games. Becoming a full-time broadcaster has brought so much positive change to my life. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and spending time with close friends. If this will be your first time at TwitchCon, no worries! I am here to share some tips and my experience from last year. I didn't take pictures of everything, basically only in my opinion, the MUST HAVES.
In need of some Twitch merchandise? Amazon launched a Twitch store with official clothing and lots more! Twitch stuff was pretty rare before this so make sure you take a look! The pillow that I waited 2 hours in line for now has prime shipping. LUCKY YOU.
I don't like traveling with a suitcase for conventions because it usually costs extra and there's always the hassle of having to go through luggage check-in. This is all personal preference of course! I've used a duffle bag for every convention and it fits everything I need. Find a duffle that has multiple compartments inside and out because that's where you want to keep your chargers!
A bag for your swag! When I left for the airport, I used this to store my planet ticket, gum, and ID card. It turned into a memory pouch after my first day! This is where I kept all business cards, pins, and freebies that I scored while walking around the expo. Don't stuff cards into your pocket or throw them into your bag because it's probably going to get lost or ruined. I'm sentimental so I like to save mementos.

★ Handheld Consoles + Games + Case + Charger
★ Camera + Tripod + Charger
★ Battery Pack
★ Cellphone + Charger
★ SD CARDS
I seriously can't live without my 3DS console. This thing is MY LIFE and I always keep it in my carry on bag when traveling. It's scary bringing my whole case filled with all 8 copies of Animal Crossing so I make sure to only bring a few games. Miku or any rhythm game is great for when you are waiting to board. I swear that time just flies by. I sleep for most of the time on the plane but I need entertainment for when I am awake! Luis is going to be playing Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle on the Switch! It's so relaxing watching him play. Please remember to bring cases for all your portable consoles. Try to leave all unnecessary extra accessories at home.
If you couldn't tell by now, I like to personalize almost everything that I own. Who wants to have a boring battery pack? Not me. I'll be bringing two with me this year because I'm addicted to my phone. I chose fun colors because that way I'll know it's mine since it stands out. The blue one is from Amazon and has two usb ports while the pink only has one. The small pink one was $5 from Walmart and it only lasts for a short amount of time. Don't forget the cable you need in order to recharge for the next day!
This Pacman tin used to hold delicious cherry candy but it's now my SD card carrier! There's a reason why I have so many storage containers. They all serve a purpose and help me control my messiness. I designate each one to holding something so that I will never lose track of it! There's a phrase in Chinese that Mom always uses for me and it's "diu san la si" which means to be forgetful or scatterbrained. I legit forgot my camera SD card for Dreamhack and I had to buy a new one at the airport. So sad because I made a big deal about vlogging my whole trip and I forgot such a crucial thing.
WEATHER IN LONG BEACH:
Plan out your outfits!
★ Dresses, Skirts, Tops, Leggings, Cardiagns
★ Zip Up Hoodie
What to wear? I'm being very honest when I say that I don't always make the best wardrobe decisions as a girl when it comes to conventions. I usually wear skirts and complicated tops. After all the mistakes I think I've learned how to be a lot more functional. WEAR WHATEVER YOU WANT as long as it's comfortable. Save gowns and dress shirts for any parties that you might be attending. For the convention, my recommended combination has to be a quirky graphic tee with a skater skirt! Luis always rocks jeans and we love the Nintendo line from Uniqlo.
I would rather not carry a regular sized backpack so I opt for a smaller version. I have a ton of mini backpacks in many styles. I'm only bringing ONE BACKPACK! I took photos of three to show options. Your bag is too small if you can't fit a water bottle inside. The black//white Ralph Lauren side bag is more formal and will be used for dinner or other events during the weekend. I wore the leather one on the left last year and didn't have any problems with it. I want more space though and I'm still deciding between Neko Atsume and the bigger leather backpack. Help a girl out? Which one should I bring? Choose one and let me know in the comment section below! I need some feedback please! ♡♡♡
Be smart with your footwear! You are going to be walking around for hours so sneakers are your best friend. Vans, converse, and other sporty shoes will work just fine. My beige Superga's match literally any outfit and I'll be going to the airport in these. Luis loves boos so I had to get him these villain vans from awhile back. The Bobombs are adorable.
I'm bringing my beautiful black Zara flats to wear for when I get dressed up! They lace up and look fancier than your average pair of flats. No heels because they take up way too much space! THEY ARE ALSO HEAVY. I'm a weakling alright, I need to be able to carry my duffle bag without falling over. Oh yeah! Here's a photo of what they look like on.
★ Hello Kitty Makeup Bag
★ Urban Decay Naked Basics
☆ I use the Naked 2 Palette but it's such an obnoxious size and doesn't fit into any of my makeup bags. All the colors I need for my every day look are in the basics palette! Much easier and more compact.
★ Sample Perfumes
☆ I used to work at Victoria's Secret so I have lots of small perfume bottles. They are pocket size!
★ Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner
★ Liquid Liner
★ Color Corrector
☆ My fix for avoiding looking like a zombie after a sleepless night.
★ Cover FX Concealer
★ Estee Lauder Mascara
★ Wet N Wild Liquid Catsuit Lipsticks
★ Compact Mirror
★ Lip Balm
There's the main makeup bag but then I also have a small drawstring bag that holds bare necessities. I only keep a few products on me for when I need a touch up. Everything else stays at the hotel.
★ My Melody Bag
★ Lip Balm
★ Wet N Wild Liquid Catsuit Lipstick
★ Liquid Liner
★ Compact Mirror
★ Sample Perfume
★ Concealer Palette
★ Tooth Brush + Case//Cap + Toothpaste
★ Eye Drops
★ MAKEUP REMOVER + COTTON SWABS
☆ I found this Olaf case with 150 at the dollar store which should be plenty enough for my time in California. I like having a bare face when I go to bed and I feel like makeup wipes just don't get the job done. LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO SOMETHING THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOREVER. POND'S COLD CREAM. You are welcome. I take a generous amount out of the tub and put it into a small container or baggie.
★ Nail Clippers
I'm no expert but my collection is definitely growing. Lanyard//badge is your permanent accessory during the convention. Not going to lie, I usually keep mine on till the very end of the night no matter where I am because I'm afraid I'll misplace it. They always give out a standard lanyard but I suggest you bring your own! You'll see me walking around with my Animal Crossing lanyard. Represent your favorite game! I've also noticed that people really enjoy decorating with pins and I'm sure there will be a lot of limited edition ones available throughout the weekend at different booths.
I think you can see a trend here. I REALLY LIKE BAGS. ALL KINDS OF BAGS. A BAG FOR YOUR BAG. BAGS ON BAGS ON BAGS. I get very organized when I pack so I use these big pouches to separate my items. One pouch for intimates and maybe one for miscellaneous.
A cute way to hold business cards! I'm hanging this sleepy bunny pouch on my lanyard for easy access. It's better than having to fumble through my bag after a conversation.
Are you a content creator? I was determined to be more prepared this year because I was so lost on what to do last year. I wanted something in addition to business cards so I had some emote pins made! I used this website called Wacky Buttons and I know the name might seems questionable and the most bootleg thing ever but the pins are FANTASTIC quality! The colors are vibrant and I'm very happy with my purchase. I ordered Maple (sugarHYPE), Pascal (sugarLURK), Julian (sugarSWOON) and it took about a week to arrive. The company is located in New York. I couldn't believe how nice they were because the price was SO CHEAP. I decided to order two more! Mitzi (sugarWAVE), Molly (sugarSHUFFLE) and shipping was even faster for the second order. I'm putting these into goodie bags as a bonus for those who attend my meetup! Left overs will go on my sugar shop hehe.
There has to be someone you hope to meet at TwitchCon. Maybe a favorite streamer? Don't miss out on a special moment. Bring a pen and marker just in case you run into them somewhere besides their meet and greet booth. Get that signature!
HYDRATION IS SO IMPORTANT and I'm a total freak about it. I'm constantly drinking water during my streams and I panic if I don't have water on me. You will most likely get caught up in everything that's happening and forget about hydrating if you don't have a water bottle. I like the water bottles that have a handle on the cap because it makes life so much easier. Swing it around and drink up! There are some that you can even clip to your bag. Go to a water fountain to refill because no one likes buying overpriced drinks at the food court. Can you tell which one's mine? :)
Thanks for reading! I hope you found this post helpful. I wish you a safe and happy weekend at TwitchCon. Take care of yourself and each other. Make it a memorable and explore as much as you can. The socializing aspect during conventions can be very exhausting especially for someone like me because I work/stream nonstop and barely ever leave the apartment. Try to figure out a schedule because you can't be in so many different places at once. There will be a lot of events happening and it can be kind of overwhelming. Don't be shy and miss out on any networking opportunities. I think that's everything! I tried to keep it short and sweet. Will I see you there!? Please leave a comment with any thoughts or questions!
