I watched the Nintendo Direct with my Twitch chat and pretty much lost my mind over this update. It's finally here and earlier than expected! Please use this page for reference if you are looking for help on the new update. I will be making many changes to this page for the next few months. I will be streaming New Leaf pretty much every day and making sure I can provide accurate information. Please bear with me!

Amiibo CameraThe Amiibo Camera feature is located on the loading screen once you start up your game. It allows you to take photos of your favorite Animal Crossing villagers and NPC's in your real life environment. You can flip the camera for selfie mode like how I did here in this wonderful gif. Yes, Kitty is running on my shoulder. Start scanning in some Amiibos and get in on the fun!

Starting Up The Game |
Once you update your system and choose the save file you want, Isabelle will appear on the train with you instead of Rover. She sits down to chat with you about the new campground that is in town and gives the feel of a whole new game. If you have a CYCLING TOWN or regular town that you have not been on in awhile, the update forces you through this animation. You are not allowed to change the date or time during this train ride! When you arrive in town, Isabelle explains the new currency in the game and takes you to the Cat Machine at the Town Hall. I find it more convenient for the campground to be near the Town Hall so if you wanted, you could exit out the game and redo this part over and over until you find a good spot on the map.

Meow Coupons can be used to buy unique in-game items at the campground or from the different RV's. Harvey sells 2 items outside everyday at the campground and they cost 5 Meow Coupons. Each item in the NPC RV that shows up daily and the ones you call in yourself through Wisp cost 3 Meow Coupons. THESE ITEMS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR ORDER IN YOUR CATALOG. When you visit another player's campground, the RV items are more expensive and costs 5 Meow Coupons.
Earn More Meow Coupons:
- Complete every day town initiatives (some on the list will give you a time limit "Until Monday Morning")
- Using Wisp/scanning in Amiibo's gives you 5 coupons
- Earn bonus coupons in the mini-games depending on your score
- Exchange rate is 1 coupon for 3,000 bells (NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND)
When you scan in a NPC Amiibo figure, once their RV arrives at the campground Wisp will take their spot in town. For example, Wisp will be at the Town Hall filling in for Isabelle and so on. Please note that Wisp is just there waiting and WILL NOT allow you to do your usual stuff. Wisp doesn't let you sell anything at Re-Tail and you won't be able to buy anything at the store if you scan in Timmy and Tommy. Just keep this in mind if you are someone who doesn't like to time travel.

Secret Storeroom and Happy Home Designer Seminar
To unlock the Secret Storeroom, you must have at least a second-level room added to your house. I HIGHLY recommend this addition because I'm not kidding you, it gives you like an endless amount of space. Each category has 9 pages. If you have fully paid off all your loans, this will be pretty simple for you because it's the only thing he is going to ask you. For those who still have options to upgrade your house, choose the "Something different" option he explains. He should tell you about the storeroom right when you visit Nook's Homes after you update.
|
After unlocking the storeroom, the next time you Nook's Homes you will see Lottie standing next to Lyle. She takes you through a seminar against your will but why wouldn't you want this feature anyway? If you are like me and have already played tons of Happy Home Designer this seminar will bore you to tears. Please Lottie, I know how to rotate and put items on top of desks. I GOT THIS. Also just something to ruin your day, you are NOT able to place furniture in between spaces.

THERE IS NOT A SPECIFIC SPOT WHERE THE LAMP WILL SPAWN! It will be in a random empty spot in town (DIFFERENT FOR EVERY MAYOR!) When walking around, you will get dialogue from "???" asking you for some help. If you walk in the wrong direction, he will alert you.
Wisp In My Other Towns:
I found Wisp in 4/5 TOWNS SO FAR. I have yet to open my Cycling Town copy! The lamp appeared in a random open area in my town and this will be depending on whether you have QR codes, flowers and other planted items around.
What I Did To Get Wisp:
(THIS IS JUST FROM MY EXPERIENCE I HAVE NO IDEA IF YOU ACTUALLY NEED TO DO EACH STEP)
1. TIME TRAVEL 1-2 DAYS
2. Complete The Beginner Town Initiatives
3. Collect Meow Coupons
4. Ask Tom Nook For The "Secret Storeroom" Upgrade
5. After The Storeroom Is Built, Do Lottie's HHD Seminar
There is a chance you will find Wisp without having to do these tasks, only try this if you are having serious trouble getting him to show up!

This is the mini-game that was featured in Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival for the Wii U. In my opinion, this was probably the most enjoyable game that was available. There are different levels with larger maps and you will be given more days to collect resources in order to escape. You have to collect 3 logs, and 1 raft. You will run into situations where you can retrieve food or fight an enemy. Different villagers and NPCs will have unique abilities to help you navigate through the map. You can see a list here. LOOK AT TWIGGY, SHE IS LEGIT FLYING LOL.
For example, cats can catch fish with their bare hands and run to a nearby fishing spot without taking up the limited amount of spaces they have for the day.
This is my OP team. A deer, and two cats. I have NEVER failed to escape with a team like this! After each villager gets their turn around the map, you will move to a tent and have two options, make a tool or sleep. You collect sticks, rocks and thread around the map that can make a shovel, fishing rod, slingshot, and shovel. Having tools will help you if you ever run into trouble. Make sure you don't run out of food! You have to eat before you sleep after every day.
Some of the awful things that can happen to your villagers during exploration.
Once you collect the required materials, off you go!
PERFECT STANCE. THE DETERMINATION. THE PRIDE.
When you fail, it looks a little something like this...LOL.
