Guide to Getting Villagers on BellTreeForums

This is a guide to show you how to navigate the website, and understand some of the forum terminology. This forum will help you achieve your dreamies but, you may need to time travel in order to do so. For an excellent guide on time traveling, please go to this link.

Website terminology you need to know:

  • TBT- These are bells, which is forum currency. You earn this by posting frequently, basically just by being very active on the website. Longer posts give you more bells. Do not make obvious pointless posts to earn bells, administrators will delete them.
  • IGB- This means In Game Bells. This can also be a form of currency to bid, and buy on the forums.
  • Cycling Town- Users usually purchase a second Animal Crossing New Leaf 3DS cartridge and constantly time travel to move in different villagers.
  • Void- A villager that was moved out, no one adopted.
  • TT- Time Travel
  • Lurking- Looking for
After you have made your account on BellTreeForums, set up your profile. You do not necessarily need to fill in your profile however, you must put in your 3DS Friend code so cycling towns can add you quickly and easily in the process.
At the top of the homepage, click “My Profile”. Click on “About Me”. Use the pencil to edit your 3DS Friend code. I would also recommend you to put in your dreamies (Most wanted villagers) to let people know that you really want those certain villagers.
Go back to the homepage, and scroll to the Animal Crossing: New Leaf section.

Go to the “Villager Trading Plaza” located at the bottom.
This is where users can post threads for their cycling towns. Not all users have cycling towns, some will simply post a villager to sell or giveaway because they are moving away in their town.
Users will usually indicate what kind of thread it is in the title.
Most cycling towns will be indicated by [CYCLING].
Most giveaways will be indicated by [GIVEAWAY].
Etc.

Cycling Towns

Reading the Title
[NEW]: ______
or
[IN]: ______
Means that the villager has recently just moved into the town.
[OUT]: ______
or
[IN BOXES]: ______
Means that the villager has pinged to move or has been time traveled to their boxing day already.
Remember the terminology from the beginning of the guide, most titles may have “void”, meaning no one offered to adopt the villager in time.

Buying Villagers

**NOT ALL CYCLING TOWNS REQUIRE PAYMENT, SOME USERS OFFER ALL VILLAGERS FOR FREE**
(First come, first served basis)
Please check to see what tier the villager you want is to determine how much you will probably need to pay.
Villagers Based on Popularity
  • Bid
    • Anyone can bid for a villager. Most bids last for a few hours and the person with the highest bid will pay that amount for the villager. YOU WILL GET OUTBID MOST OF THE TIME. Remember to refresh the thread.
  • Buy Out
    • There may be an option to pay a set TBT price for the villager. This option is quicker but can be more expensive. You usually cannot do this unless the villager is in boxes and ready to go.
  • Reserving
    • Cycling towns will list all the villagers currently in the town. You can reserve a villager that is not moving yet. When they decide to move, you can then have first shot at buying the villager.
  • Reselling
    • DO NOT resell villagers you have previously bought, or won. This will bring you negative attention.
    • Feel free to post a thread to sell/giveaway your villager that is moving.

VILLAGER PRICES: (These are the average prices most cycling towns use)

  • Tier 1
    • 150-200 TBT
  • Tier 2
    • 100 TBT
  • Tier 3
    • 50 TBT
  • Tier 4
    • 20 TBT
  • Tier 5
    • Usually free!

Things to Keep in Mind:

  • Make sure you have room in your town to adopt a villager. Users will not wait for you to have space in your town, they will just void the villager or sell it to someone else.
  • Not all cycling towns will be online when you are, responses and transactions are not all immediate. You have the be patient when buying dreamies.
After posting and you have decided to adopt a villager, add the user in charge of the thread on 3DS. You must be friends in order to visit their town and adopt the villager.
Look on the left side on the thread underneath the user’s picture. Their information will be listed there.

This is why you need to fill in your 3DS Friend code in your profile.

How to Send TBT

On the homepage, click on the forum tab, and check your currency tab.

Click on the amount of bells you have and there should be a box that pops up:

Next to To Account, click Change and type in the username who you are buying the villager from. Please be sure to type the username in correctly. Make sure it stays on transfer and type in the amount you agreed on.
Click submit and you should receive a private message from a Gyroid.

Lurking

There is an official “Looking for” thread in the Villager Trading Plaza. Separate threads made by you in the Villager Trading Plaza stating you are looking for a certain villager ARE NOT ALLOWED. An administrator will respond and redirect you to the looking thread.

You are allowed to post more than once in this thread stating certain villagers you are looking for. Some users will refer to this thread and message people privately about villagers. This thread is overpopulated and people are constantly posting. This is not a reliable way to get the villagers that you want.
For example:

Luckily, I read it immediately and posted in time to receive Olivia for free. Free villagers are usually just given to the first user to post and ask.

Lurking in Cycling Towns

Many cycling towns allow lurkers to post what villager they are looking for. Sometimes, lurkers even get first dibs on that villager. They will put you on a list and if/when your wanted villager moves into their cycling town, they will inform you via private message or profile visitor message.

I hope this guide was helpful!
